~Review~
Set slightly in the future (2047), which I found very cool. So much can be done with a futuristic setting, since you’re basically creating from scratch. However, Gibson kept it very believable, I’m happy to say that there are no flying cars in this book. A great story with just the right amount of intrigue, drama and humor. It takes a talented writer to find that balance.
Rafe is the king of Gargoyle shifters and while he may be the typical self assured, commanding leader with everyone else, with Kaya you see a more gentle, uncertain Rafe.
Kaya is the chief of police, which makes her a powerful, dominate woman. I wasn’t sure how a romance between two such dominate personalities would work out, but it really worked and flowed well. The first meeting between them was… Electric. I loved when Kaya compared their handshake to being tazed. Fantastically written characters, Rafe and Kaya are extremely life-like, and even secondary characters have a realness to them that I really enjoyed.
I haven’t read very many Gargoyle shifter books, which leaves the story line fresh and interesting for me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys shifter books.
Gregor is the next story in the series, he didn’t play a very large role in this book, just enough that I know I want to get to know him better… I’ll definitely be on the look out by more of Faith Gibson’s work.
